HEARTS & HAMMERS

Volunteer Crew Information

Thank you for your interest in the Hearts & Hammers volunteer home repair program. This program utilizes volunteer crews to make critically needed exterior repairs for elderly, disabled, and low-income homeowners who are physically and financially unable to make the needed repairs themselves.

In order to run this program, we need volunteer crews to make the exterior repairs. Local corporations, churches, schools, and civic associations sponsor volunteer crews of 15-35 people including a crew leader. These volunteer crews perform all the work and supply their own tools, ladders, scrapers, paintbrushes, hammers, and compassion. The CORPS locates the house, qualifies the homeowner, raises the money to pay for materials, and assigns your crew to a home.

We recommend that the crew leader have some carpentry knowledge and experience (handy-man or professional), but it is not a requirement. The crew leader should be able to organize and deploy the volunteers.

Please use one Crew Commitment Form for each crew that your organization sponsors in the program.

To help us plan for this effort, please email or print out the attached document and mail it or fax it to us at:

Fort Bend CORPS

Tel. 281-313-2677 Fax: 281-242-7584

Your response will enable us to choose a home for you that will closely match the skills of your crew. This information is critical to our planning. The CORPS will contact crew leaders by phone.
